1999 Chevrolet Express 3500 “Number Two”

Up for sale is our trusty “Number Two.” This was our second major purchase for the business back in 2011 and she’s been a valuable member of the team for ten years. We recently purchased a new-to-us Ford Transit van that accommodates larger pieces of furniture, so it’s time to let Number Two go on to a new owner.

DETAILS

She’s got about 184,000 miles on her but we put a new 5.7 liter engine in it at about 40,000 miles ago. Like any 20-some-year-old vehicle, she looks great from 100 yards away. Get closer and you’ll see rust at the bottom, a twice-repainted hood, spots where paint came off from decal removal, dents, and other signs of loving use. Up top she’s got an awesome ladder rack where it lowers the ladder to the side of the truck where you can take it off without breaking your back. We’ll miss that, but it didn’t fit on the Transit we bought.

Inside she sports an air conditioning system that usually doesn’t work and a “check engine” light that always does, but it doesn’t seem to affect the way she rides. Interior panels are mismatched, the back doors don’t align perfectly, etc. etc. Look, she starts and runs — that’s all we ever needed. It’s got a current state inspection and new tires. Whatever mechanical work it needed was done by Carroll’s Automotive in Williamsburg. The new owner will get the complete print out of all work done over the time we’ve had her.

PRICE

$3500. Title in hand. We know its faults (see above) so there’s no need to come and tell us about them all in an effort to lower the price. It’s an inspected, decent-running work van and it’s worth every bit of the money.
