Community

We all have a responsibility to leave our community in a better condition than when we entered it.We work hard to further that motto at Williamsburg Estate Services.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a building materials warehouse that accepts donations of new and gently-used goods. The goal of the ReStore is to generate enough profits to build one Habitat house each year, as well as to promote recycling.  When the estate sale is over and the majority of the items have been sold or sent to consignment, there is always something left. WES takes these remaining items to Williamsburg’s Habitat ReStore, which benefits our clients with a tax write off and helps someone else get a house they may otherwise not have.

NEW2YOU THRIFT STORE

Williamsburg Estate Services has a great relationship with New2you, which supports the Williamsburg Christian Academy scholarship fund.  We donate many gentle used items we are unable to sell.  Through New2you, we partner with other faith based organizations I the area to support families in need.

THE ARC OF GREATER WILLIAMSBURG

Williamsburg Estate Services is an avid supporter of the Arc of Greater Williamsburg as a sponsor of the Arc’s annual 5k run and Laura’s husband is a board member of the Arc.

FISH

Each year, WES holds a canned food drive to benefit FISH, the local charity that provides so much for people in need. FISH provides food, hygiene and cleaning products, clothing, and small housewares to persons in need in the greater Williamsburg area.  Clients are referred for service by local agencies that know their needs. We asked each of our shoppers to bring an item of canned food to benefit FISH and, in return, the shoppers could enter the sale 1/2 hour early. The results were amazing! We filled the FISH car twice! We’ll do this again soon.

 R.F. WILKINSON YMCA

From 2012 – 2017, Laura was a member of the Board of Managers of the R. F. Wilkinson YMCA in Williamsburg. While no longer on the Board, Laura has a passion for the Y and the programs they offer our community.  The YMCA is a vital asset to the communities it serves. It provides programs like before- and after-school child care, preschool, day camps, swimming and swim lessons, family activities, sports for adults and children, art programs, health and exercise, specialty programs for teens and older adults, and many more programs that help make that community an even nicer place to live and raise families. All YMCA programs are developed around the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
